Why do our cats suddenly keep waking us up at 6 am?

by Laura

We got two cats from a rescue at the beginning of February. They were fine sleeping downstairs. Then for the last two weeks, they have woken us up at 6 am, bashing and scraping at the bedroom door and meowing. It's 6 am every day, except one or two times it was earlier. Can't work out why or how to stop this, very tired!

Maybe it's springtime

Cats are often active in the early morning. Maybe the change in seasons and animal activity nearby has adjusted their "wake-up, it's time for breakfast" button. Did you respond to them? If you respond, that will probably encourage them to keep doing it.
