Why do cats like to be in contact with you when asleep?

My husband and I have a lap-loving cat. He will always sit with us on the sofa - sleeping on one of us and reaching out to touch the other. Either way round - he just seems to like contact with us both at once. Has anyone else experienced that? We’d love to think it's typical "I'm comfortable with you" behavior. Wonder if anyone else has experienced it and if there’s anything else behind it.

That is adorable

That is totally adorable. I'm not sure why he wants to be touching both of you, but maybe he wants to make sure he knows if one of you gets up.
