When will my kitten get along with my two other cats?

by Breanna

When will my recently fixed kitten get along with my two other fixed cats? My kitten, who I got at two months old, got along with my fixed female and male cats fine until he started getting in heat around five months and started humping my fixed male cat.

This led to a massive fight between the three of them and since then, we have had to keep the kitten away.

We just got kitten fixed April 30, but he still is hissing and growling at the other cats. How long till this will be OK, and what can be done to help?

They might need a "kitty reset"
by: Kurt (Admin)

I'm sorry to hear your cats are fighting. His hormone levels should drop fairly quickly, but it sounds like the relationship might need to be repaired.

To repair a relationship between cats, you can do a reset. Separate them and then reintroduce the cats slowly, just like they're meeting for the very first time.

Right after a neuter surgery might be a good opportunity for this because it's a good idea to keep the patient isolated in a recovery area so they don't injure themselves.

Separate them!
by: Sally F.

I would keep them away from each other until things calm down. He should become more docile in a couple of weeks.
