When can I let my kitten roam around at night?

I've recently adopted a 3-month-old kitten. She is very self-sufficient and I feel bad locking her in the bathroom at night while I'm asleep. It's the only place I can keep her since I only have a one-bedroom and I won't put a litter box in my bedroom.
I've had her a little over a week now. When can I start allowing her free run of the apartment while I'm asleep? I'm afraid she might hurt herself on something like a cord she might want to play with.
