What are these scabs all over my cat?
by Ethan Allen
What are these scab/clump like things all over my cat? My family owns one cat and she is about three. Lately, I have started to notice these odd things on my cat. I can pull them off, but she doesn't like it. They can also be washed off. I don't know what they are, does anyone know?!
Your vet will have to diagnose your cat, but cats with scabs often have fleas (flea allergy dermatitis
). Flea control
is important because fleas pose a number of health risks to cats. They can cause anemia and spread disease, including parasites
. They also make your cat miserable.
Excessive scratching can also sometimes be caused by a non-flea related allergy or skin condition. Skin conditions can be signs of other diseases as well.
Fleas or not, I would suggest contacting your veterinarian as soon as possible to get proper diagnosis and treatment for this condition.
