Symptoms are confusing

by Anonymous

My cat has never had a problem using the box, until recently. A month ago, she peed on a towel she had been lying on. Then she was normal until this morning.

I woke up to her meowing, and it looked like she had just peed and was almost lying in it on the kitchen counter. There was a lot of urine there.

She got up and scratched to bury it. Then, she seemed okay and has been normal all day, eaten a lot, drank a good bit of water, but has not used any of the 5 litter boxes we have.

I have pressed her stomach, bladder, seems fine. I don't know if she couldn't get to her box and didn't want to use the others, or if she was asleep and didn't get up in time, or if something serious is going on.

The meowing is what worried me. It was the same meow as when she wants outside, so I don't know.

Cats that urinate on kitchen counters often have a medical problem. It may be intermittent, or mild, but I would suggest having her checked out by a veterinarian.
