Question about my potential cat's living arrangement?

by John
(Doe)

I’m thinking about adopting a young cat from an animal shelter sometime soon. I currently live with my parents in a 3 story, 4 bedroom house, with the intention of moving out into an apartment within the next 4-8 months.

My question is, should I keep my cat from roaming the entire house, that way it won’t get sad/depressed or disappointed by the time I move into a much smaller living space?

Or do you think it doesn’t matter too much, and let the cat roam the entire house knowing it’s going have to downgrade to a much smaller space in a half year?

I would really appreciate your guy’s opinion on this. I will be a first time cat owner.

Let him explore the whole place

Let him explore the whole house and worry about what happens later, later. He'll adjust.
