My cat's left pupil is enlarged?

by Kathy Sailer
(Bismarck, ND)

My cat's left eye (pupil) is so enlarged I can't see the color of her eye. What could be the problem?

My female cat is 13 years old, and is fairly healthy. Just a few days ago, I noticed her left pupil is so enlarged it covers her whole left eye. What is the cause?

Your vet can diagnose the problem
by: Kurt (Admin)

I'm sorry to hear that your kitty is having problems. This is known as
anisocoria and there can be a number of causes, including glaucoma, injury (to the eye or head), neurological problems, and cancer (see the links for more).

Please contact your veterinarian immediately to get guidance and hopefully prevent loss of vision. I hope she recovers quickly with her sight intact and doesn't have any major medical problems.
