My cat urinates at back door

My almost 7-year-old male cat has stopped using the litter box. We moved house 7 months ago, and he stopped using the litter box 2 months ago.
It seems he would rather go outside then use the box inside, even if it was literally just changed. Instead, he will urinate in the laundry, mostly the back door. He doesn't seem to have a problem holding it or uncomfortable letting it go.
We are very frustrated to have to clean up urine every morning. Also, I'm looking for effective ways to clean the area and get rid of the smell.
