My cat is peeing everywhere after she had kittens!

My cat is 1 and just had her first litter of kittens 2 weeks ago. She is my only cat so she is the only one who uses her litter box.

But ever since she gave birth she has been peeing everywhere but her box? She especially likes to pee in my bed and on my sons bed and I cannot figure out why.

She will pee in any spot that she is standing and it is very frustrating considering I have had her since she was 6 weeks old and trained when I got her.

I have never had a problem with her until now. Any ideas what could be going on.

My thoughts:

I'm sorry to hear that your cat is having problems. My guess would be either a urinary tract infection (or other medical problem), or she is stressed.

Things to think about...

Was everything OK at the vet visit?

Has she been checked by the vet with this particular problem in mind? Did they do a urinalysis?

Does she have any other signs of illness or stress? Is she eating enough - new mothers need lots of calories.

Is she having a hard time with the kittens in any way? Did she have an especially stressful delivery?

Is she tending to her kittens properly? Are the kittens all healthy and maturing as expected?

Are her mammary glands OK?

Does she have a suitable, secure nest?

I hope that gives you some ideas. Please let us know how she progresses.
