My cat is limping a month after healing from a leg wound

by Anonymous

My cat was in (what I assume to be) a fight with another cat. I heard screeching outside from 2 cats and my cat came rushing in with a very bloody wound, not being able to use his leg. The next day I took him to the vet and the vet didn't even look at the wound even after I asked as the limping didn't seem normal, gave my cat an injection and discharged us.

My cat was fine for about 3 weeks. At the start of this week he started limping a little, not much but noticeable and it worried me a bit. The next 1-2 days he was considerably limped, barely able to apply pressure to the leg he was injured on. Then today he cannot use the leg at all. He can't even put it on the ground.

I'm sick with worry and my local vets have no doctors available so I arranged an appointment with a new one on Saturday (their earliest appointment), I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what the possibilities are? I'm worried sick and it seems to be getting worse so fast even thought it was fine for so long.

I was wondering if maybe something was inside his wound and maybe it healed with it still inside? I'm just not sure why it got so much worse again after 3 weeks.

Infection?
by: Jimmy Johnson

It may be an infection, especially if the wound was not cleaned and dressed.
