Leaving my cats for a week with no heat

by Beth

My bf and I are leaving for 9 days. I have a sitter coming every other day to replace waters, replenish food, and scoop boxes. But I can't leave the heat on.

The thermostat is broken so it would never turn off, but besides that I'm worried sick about fires with our style heater anyway.

With other apartments around, it will stay warm enough right? Temperatures outside could potentially get below freezing and stay like that during the day, but the norm is upper 30s to low to mid 40s all the time.

They have cozy little cat beds they will use, so is this alright? We are on the third floor.

Can someone run the heat?
by: Kurt (Admin)

It's been a long time since I've lived in cold weather, and I'd be reluctant to guess whether your plan will keep the place warm enough. Can someone come in and run the heat for a while? Perhaps a friend, neighbor, or family member could come by and run the heat each day. If you can get the place warmed up to higher than normal once a day, the insulation might keep the place warm enough.
