Is it normal for a cat to like bleach smell?

My cat never licks my hands unless I've been washing canning jars or similar items in bleach water. Not strong bleach water mind you, just to disinfect things.

I call him mine because I take care of him. I came to this neighborhood over a year ago, but I never saw him until about three months ago.

He is/was very fearful and always very cautious. Today, for the first time ever, I got him to come in the house. He ventured in about 6 feet, then turned and fled back out.

Whoever had him, neutered him and declawed him. I felt so dang sorry for him and have been working daily to earn his trust and show him love.

This is the first cat I've had in my life and I'm 70 years old. I am a dog person. He gets along with them, reluctantly, and will bat them occasionally but it doesn't hurt them.

Why does he go crazy over my bleach water hands? Thank you so much for an answer.

Bleach cat

I'm not sure about all cats, but I've had several cats that like to roll around on the floor like maniacs after it's been bleached. I've also used a bleach solution to clean litter boxes and then seen cats get very interested in rubbing their scent on the box.

I honestly do not know the answer to this, but if it helps any, mine absolutely loves Ben-Gay!
