How do I stop my cat from biting me?

Recently, my cat has been biting me every morning. I believe it is because he is hungry and wants to eat, but he does it every day at 5 am.

I have tried ignoring him and getting him off my bed every time he tries to bite me, but after a while, he gets on my bed again and tries to bite me. How should I stop this behavior?

This happens sometimes at night as well but it is usually after he has his meal so I do not think it is because he is hungry. When he does this, I try to play with him because I read an article that says it is due to excess energy, but he shows no interest in the cat toys.

Usually when this happens, he gets on my bed very calmly, lies down and after a while, tries to bite my leg or hands. Why is this happening and how should I stop this as well? Thank you in advance for your help!

Something else to bite
by: Sally F.

Maybe you just haven't found the right toys, but offering him something else to bite (like a stuffed toy or the end of a wand toy like the Cat Dancer) might help. The 5 am biting might be a wake up call and be about the food. The other time might be just for attention. If he's not getting enough attention overall, you might try increasing play session time/frequency at other times and see if this behavior stops.
