Fur on my cat changing from beige to grey?

My cat is a Forest Cat/Maine Coon/uknown mix. He is black and brown stripes with beige stomach fur.
When he was 2, the chest was beige, but over time until now (He became 3 in March), the fur on his chest, or between his two front legs, has turned from a beige to grey. Not light grey but maybe a medium grey or a little bit darker.
Is there a reason for this or is it normal?
