Cat has red scab on neck after injection

I took my cat to the vet about a week-and-a-half ago, and she got her rabies shot. A few days later she went into heat. A few days after she went into heat, we noticed a red raised bump on the back of her neck.


She was missing hair around the spot. She is not in heat anymore. I checked her neck and the spot is like a scab and she is missing hair down her neck about an inch-and-a-half, starting from the spot.

I had a cat get a raised bump from an injection once. I took her back to the vet to have them confirm that it was nothing serious.

Was the rabies shot given in the back of the neck?
Have you called the vet to find out if this is a reaction to the shot? Most vets I've run into don't inject in the neck anymore, but if yours does, that might be something to explore.
