Will an adult male cat get along with a female kitten?

Our adult male cat (he’s neutered) didn’t get along with our recent male kitten Dexter that we adopted. The kitten was very nice and friendly but our adult cat just swatted and hissed at him even after days of them being separated, so unfortunately, we had to adopt the kitten out.

We recently adopted a female kitten who is smaller, and more calm and placid than the male kitten was. Would my male cat get along better with her?

Some cats just don't get along with other cats, period. Other times, it's the personalities involved, or the introduction methods, or just time (it can take days or weeks before the hissing and swatting stops).

I don't think gender matters nearly as much as some people think it does. I think it's more down to the individual cats involved. Good luck!
