Since my husband's surgery, our cat is totally ignoring him. What's up?

BB is a 6-year-old, female house/outdoor cat. She's in great health, secure, loved and obeyed! She is very connected to my husband and me.
Two weeks ago my husband had a double knee replacement. He spent 4 days in the hospital. Since he's been home she totally ignores him. She won't even go into his room.
She looks but wants nothing to do with him? Puzzling- What do you think is going on?
