P.U.R.R. West Virginia -- People United for Rescue and Rehabilitation. We are an all volunteer, No Kill, cat only 501-C3 organization. Our Mission is to assist the area in rescue and rehabilitation of cats and kittens.

We also are enhancing awareness of rescue and rehabilitation issues and needs through education and by example of this grass roots effort. We believe that by stressing the importance of being responsible pet owners and advocates, we can change the reality of felines everywhere.

We are developing a new course of action for rescue and rehabilitation. We are seeking a new approach to the population issues that plague our shelters and rescues, and believe the misuse of euthanasia as a population control is a thing of the past.

We are making the world a more humane place, one kitty at a time.

Editor's Note: PURR WV has closed its operations. The following notice announcing their closing was posted on their website:

PURR WV (People United for the Rescue and Rehabilitation of Cats in West Virginia) was founded December 2008 as a private, no-kill, cat only rescue and rehabilitation serving all of West Virginia. PURR WV will be closing all rescue and sanctuary efforts effective December 31, 2017. All cats rescued and saved through PURR WV have been transported to safe rescues. Financial hardship and volunteers suffering from debilitating disease have made our decision to close a necessity. We appreciate all the efforts from donors, volunteers, fosters, adopters and PURR fans throughout the years.

To accommodate people searching for West Virginia cat rescues and PURR in particular, this cat rescue listing will be left up for historical purposes for a period of time.

P.U.R.R. WV is such a wonderful organization. The cats and kittens there are so loved and well taken care of. The volunteers really care and the director, Lorna, is the best.
