My cat is acting strangely with my kitten

I have an 8-month-old cat, and a kitten I found abandoned under my home. The older cat has wanted nothing to do with the kitten since I have had him until today. All of a sudden, she grabbed the kitten and tried to hide under the couch with the kitten. When I took the kitten, she went under the couch and started to meow.
