White Persian cat is deaf?

White Persian cat is deaf?

I adopted a Persian cat yesterday. He is a 2 year old male named Bello. Whenever I call him, he doesn't respond. He doesn't even look.

When I pick him up and start combing him or anything, he loves it and he starts patting his tail. So it's not that he is not comfortable, it's just that he never looks for noise.

Can you please tell me if he is deaf? Do I need to take him to the vet?

It's possible he's deaf, yes

It's not uncommon for white cats with blue eyes to be deaf. Try taking a sheet of paper or some plastic and crumpling it while standing a couple of feet directly behind him.

If he can hear, his ears should move to pick up the sound.

I recommend a vet visit for all newly adopted cats. Your vet should be able to tell for certain if he is deaf, and also make sure his deafness is not due to injury or illness.
