Is my 6 year old neutered male cat cold?

I've noticed lately that my cat is lying between our shoes, or by the heater. Does it mean he's cold? Today I found him laying looking around the corner at me. I think he's doing that because he's mad at me because I wouldn't let him in the bathroom before I started showering so he could see that I was in there.
