How do I make a feral kitten not afraid of me?

by Elif
(Venus)

I have been feeding and talking in a quiet tone to this feral kitten for 3 days, but the kitty is still scared of me. I want the kitty to be friendly with me, but it's scared of me. The kitten is still with its mom cat I guess, but it goes to my garden by itself and the mama comes to pick the kitten up when it's time.

Working it in!
by: Rob Notter

I empty wet food into their bowls outside where they are nearby (instead of preparing them inside and bringing it out). They haven't come near me when really small, but as they grow, they will come up to eat before it is all into the bowls, allowing me to sneak a caress with a finger, and it's gone from there!

Patience
by: Bo A.

It took me a year to get the cat comfortable with me being on the other side of the screen door while she ate. After two years I could stand on the porch while she ate. After three years she would rub against me and would leave partially eaten prey on the porch for me, a sign that she had accepted me. Time is the only way. It is Natures way of protecting them.

Time. And kindness.

Only time and kindness will win the cat over. It can take a long time.
