Cat with broken hind leg

My cat is a 4yr old female. Four weeks ago she broke her tibia and fibula. It was a clean break. We have filled up every two weeks like we were suppose to. The other day they x-rayed again. Now it is a displaced fracture. The vet said surgery or amputation. He did recast it and put some kind of staizatiin rid in the cast. He doesn't think that it will help heal it.

I can't do the surgery as I don't have over $5000 dollars. So do I wait for the recheck in 2 weeks which will cost another $354 dollars? Should I just amputate which will cost $550? I cant afford to keep putting out over $350 dollars every 2 weeks.

Help for Cat's broken hind leg

Hello, I just read your story and though it's months after I can refer you to the Farley Foundation for helping low-income pet owners. Your vet has to fill out the forms, so if you have not made a decision yet, ask the vet for this form which will subsidize the surgery. This is available in Canada. Best of luck. C.

That's a difficult decision

Unfortunately, it sounds like due to costs, you may have to go with the amputation. I'm sorry you and your cat are going through this.
