Cat Memorial: Caesar from New York

by Amie Mizzi
(New York)

Caesar, a beautiful tabby, was found crying on March 31, 2006 in front of PS 144, in Forest Hills, Queens. I scooped him up, put him in my car, and took him straight to the vet.

I scoured the neighborhood, somewhat, but he belonged to no one. He meowed like Edward G. Robinson spoke. He stayed with me when I flooded the basement. His first introduction to his "daddy" involved biting him.

He needed to be on antianxiety meds thereafter. He suffered with asthma and kidney disease. Today, I helped to end his suffering. I loved him very much. Of my three cats, he was my special boy. May he rest in peace.

So sorry
by: Lynn Meyer

Amie, you were such an unbelievably loving and devoted "mom" to Caesar, as you are to Newport and Yoda, and you were there for him til the end. You are in my thoughts. Love you, sweetie.

Caesar
by: David

We understand your grief.

We vowed a long time ago we would never "put down" any of our babies. They would all live and pass in our home, surrounded by familiar sights, sounds, and smells and all the love mom and dad could give them. That was before Miss Chakotay had her first stint with liver failure. We tube fed her, and attended to her round the clock for almost three months before she turned around and we had almost three more years with her. Then her liver failure struck again.

Her eyes begged us not to put her through it all again. We did whatever we could for her, but she kept getting worse. When she started having seizures my wife knew it was time. We had to do something we had sworn we would never do, just as you had to do. That had to be the hardest decision we have ever made for our babies, just as it was for you. Caesar, and our Chakotay, are without pain now and they both knew the deep love of their "mom" and "dad", something so many cats never experience. Thank you so much for giving Caesar a loving home!

Loss of Caesar
by: Andrea

Amie, so sorry for your loss... I know it's hard to make the decision you had to make... it hurts so much but you did what was best for Caesar. May he rest in peace!
