Adopting a cat and a kitten

by Anonymous

I'm adopting a cat believed to be 2-3 years old. She is just weaning a litter of kittens. If I were to also adopt a kitten so she has a buddy to play with, do I adopt one of her kittens or one not related to her? I have a dog who is very cat friendly and we're adopting this cat because she is dog/cat friendly. I want the best situation for everyone involved.

It may not matter where the kitten comes from

It may not matter who the kitten's mom is, especially since the mother cat has just had kittens. She'll probably take to any kitten you put her with. That being said, I would adopt her and one of her kittens, mostly for the sake of convenience and the fact that you know the history here.
