The Inspiration Has Died

UNO will always be remembered in our hearts.

UNO will always be remembered in our hearts.

"UNO", our one-eyed Calico was the main inspiration for my award winning children's book (5 - 8 years old), "A Lesson My Cat Taught Me." ( http://www.amazon.com/Lesson-My-Cat-Taught-Me/dp/1452810885 )

She died on August 31, 2013, at the age of 13 years old, from a hyperactive thyroid as my wife and I watched. We'd rescued her from the garage we'd parked our car in over 12 years ago. Her one eye never stopped her from doing anything.

We have a few pictures of her and we'll always have my children's book to remember her by. The lesson she inspired for the book is the acceptance of others for who they are and not what they are. We can all learn a lot from our cats.

Our other cat, Dr. Seuss who's a 17 year old Maine Coon mix with diabetes began to miss her, so we adopted another cat, a 2 1/2 year old brown tabby with the name of "Priceless".

We decided to bury her ashes at a well known pet cemetery, and did so on September 28th.
