My Kitty Plays Fetch

I have a 9 month old cat who's a female. Since she was 5 months she's been playing fetch with me. She will bring me her favorite ball and place it by me on the floor and look up to me, meow, then keep meowing until I throw it.

Then she will bring it back to me and I repeat it until she gets bored or goes away and plays with it by herself. She has even brought me thin hair bows and does the same thing with it. I have two other cats. One is the mom and the other her sister and when they try to get her ball while we're playing she gets it back.

She does this at least 3 or 4 times a day wherever I'm at. She knows that I won't bend down to get it so she puts it in my hand. She also does this with my husband.

Playing Fetch with cats
by: Anonymous

My cat, Munch, also used to play fetch, but he would catch the object in midair, pop it in his mouth before landing and then return the item to me.

His favorite was the ring from the milk container lid. He would bat it around the floor until he lost it under the refrigerator.

I could toss it or a paper wad into the air, sometimes quite high, and he would jump at it and catch it almost every time. As he got older he didn't play as much. I still miss him.

My Cat, Ally
by: Anonymous

My cat, Ally, does the exact same thing except she'll get in your way 'til I throw it. Say I'm sitting on my couch watching T.V. She'll come up and stick her head in front of my face and follow it so I can't see my program until I throw the toy mouse or ball or whatever it is...adorable behavior but annoying....

My kitty plays fetch too
by: Marian

My kitty, Fresia, is 5 and she has been playing fetch almost from day 1. All of my cats have gone through a 'phase' of playing fetch, and all but Fresia have given it up. Fresia won't allow any of my younger kitties to learn to play; it's HER thing and she lets it be known. If you ignore her, she will tap on your leg for....hours.

I can relate
by: Jenn

My kitten, Katie, taught her self a game of fetch on her own with her sponge balls at about 3 months. She would play with the ball at the top of the stairs then toss it down the stairs and run after it and play with it for a while then run back up and repeat it. After a while I started playing with her and she only has to hear the word "ball!" and she is up and ready to go. That along with a great many other things makes her the best cat I've ever had so far.
