My 9 month old cat seems to be pooping involuntarily

My kitten is about 9 months old. This past week she has begun to poop outside her litter box, primarily on my bed. I have not changed her food at all, so that shouldn't be the issue.

I have used a new type of litter, but she was fine for the first week so I don't know if that was it. Just in case, I changed the type back to the original one today. But just now, when getting pet and scratched on my bed she began to poop. She wasn't squatting so I don't think it was an intentional one. She did this yesterday too, before I switched back to the original litter.

I'm worried, both because it's a problem for her to poop on my bed but also because it doesn't seem to be a voluntary action.

Medical or stress
by: Jim W.

It sounds like it's either a medical problem, or she's stressed about something. I would call the vet to get her thoroughly checked out.
