How do I keep my cat from attacking my toddler?

by Starr

My cat only likes me, and frequently attacks others. My toddler is gentle and doesn't seem too interested in the cats in general. When my toddler joins me in bed in the morning for our everyday cuddle time, I almost always have to play referee and keep the cat from attacking my baby.

My daughter doesn't chase the cats and/or hurt them in any way and the other cat I have (I have two) absolutely adores her.

The cat I'm asking about has always had territory problems and fights frequently with the other cat. I have put off giving her up because I'm afraid she won't be adopted and would love to keep her, but I need to keep my daughter safe.

Can you place the cat in another room before your time with your daughter? Longer term, it sounds like your cat could use some behavior modification or possibly even some drug therapy. There are also calming agents you can try.
