Alex came to us at about 4 months old. A neighbor's son lost his housing and couldn't keep him. Alex was a round ball of ginger fuzz, totally trusting of us in every way.
He loved to walk outside on his leash and munch on grass. He tried to meet and greet every person who ever entered his home. He would never miss a chance to be petted. He slept nearly every night on my pillow, frequently waving his tail in my face.
He did his own version of Yoga, and slept in the most surprising positions. He never fought with, or growled at anyone or any animal in his life. His gentility encompassed his whole world.
He went from sitting on my crossword this morning to being gone tonight. It was a sudden incident we would have never expected. His hole in my heart will never be filled.
