The Laughing Cat
And Other Funny Cats

The laughing cat is an Internet phenomenon. Judging by the comments on YouTube and from around the Net, some people think it's really stupid, others think it's great. Two things are certain. A ton of people are searching for it, and even some people who think it's stupid still admit to laughing at it.

An entire page devoted to the laughing cat is, in my opinion, kind of a waste (although I will put the video up in the funny cat videos section -- feel free to add your own), so I've included some additional cat characters that make us laugh. While everyone has different taste in feline humor, or humor created by felines, I've chosen some of my favorites, as well as some that I think others would like.

So, without further delay, here is the annoying cat that laughs...

Now let's talk about some other cats that have made us laugh...

Catbert is the evil (eeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiiil) Human Resources director from the Dilbert cartoon. He is the most inhumane Human Resources director ever... quite funny since he is of course, not human. He also has been known to perform tech support functions. "Catbert tech support, how may I abuse you?"

The Simpsons have Lisa Simpson's Snowball I (a deceased white cat) and Snowball II (a black cat).

The pink talking mountain lion Snagglepuss was always a favorite of mine, but he wasn't always pink.

Toonces the Driving Cat from Saturday Night Live who appeared as The Tooncinator and also in a spoof of James Dean in Toonces Without A Cause...

Garfield of course, of the Garfield comic fame. Garfield is a fat cat who loves, among other things, lasagna, naps, his sunbeam, and his teddy bear, Pooky. He doesn't like, among other things, alarm clocks, diets, spiders, and Nermal, the world's cutest kitten.

Hobbes the tiger from another comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. Hobbes is Calvin's beloved stuffed tiger. Calvin, a 6 year old boy, perceives Hobbes as a real tiger and a friend. Other characters in the strip, however, see him as a stuffed animal. Is it weird that I have a stuffed tiger?

Bill the cat. Bill is a good friend of Opus the penguin from Bloom County and Opus. Bill has a tendency to throw hair balls around like projectiles. As a result, his vocabulary most often consists of "Aack!" and "Oop aack!"

The creator, Berkeley Breathed, had the idea to create a cartoon character with with zero merchandising appeal. That plan back-fired. Bill died when his Ferrari crashed, but was later brought back via the cloning of his tongue, which was the only part of his body that was salvaged from the crash.

He has run for president for the National Radical Meadows Party, been the leader of a cult, and coughed up a hair ball on Connie Chung. He was also accused of treason for selling secrets to the Soviet Union, and was responsible for Chernobyl.
