Finchel from Arkansas

by Ash
(Arkansas)

Finchel was an absolutely gorgeous orange, part Maine Coon, that adopted me and my 10 year old daughter a year and a half ago when he was just a few months old.

He was perfect. As a baby, he survived a snake bite to the eye, and to thank us for taking care of him, he decided to never let us out of his sight again.

If we moved, he moved. When we spoke, he "spoke" back. When we would hold him, he would lay his head on our shoulder and his paw on our cheek.

He was our precious baby, our "Finchel Baby."

He didn't care for toys, he only wanted us. We lost him yesterday, after he got a punctured lung following a fight with a wild animal.

We already miss him terribly, and will continue to do so until we meet again.

I am so sorry for your loss, but know that you will see Finchel again when you cross the Rainbow Bridge. In the meantime, although you cannot replace him, please adopt another kitty to help ease your grief. There are so many out there who need caring homes.

PS on Finchel
by: Anonymous

One of our 3 cats died a few years ago. He was very like Finchel in that he was very "personal"; I don't know how else to describe it. He didn't put his head on our shoulders but he would sleep between me and my husband and press his little body against one of us, all the while purring very loudly. To this day we miss him more than words can say. I share your pain and hope that you will adopt another cat that will never take his place, but that will bring joy to both you and the animal.

Protect our babies!

If only more furbaby lovers would keep their precious felines indoors all the time! Where I live there is great danger from wild animals like the fisher and the coyote so they must be kept inside. They are family and deserve protection!

They are only on loan to us........

Heartbreaking - I am in tears. Hopefully he is now happily chasing butterflies at the Rainbow Bridge. He knew love with you which is more than so many poor kitties have.

I was really shocked reading about his suffering such a disastrous end. How he must have suffered fighting with the wild animal. I really feel with you and am so sorry for your loss. He was such a sweet loving cat. I can understand him following you around and laying his head on your shoulder.

Finchel was a great cat
by: HBR

It always breaks my heart to hear about such a loving, giving soul being lost... remember that his legacy and life is celebrated every time someone reads his story, so you have indeed given him a measure of immortality by posting his story on the internet - Good for You (and thank you BTW). While I know this is a very very difficult time right now, in a few years you will happen to revisit this again and see the positives yourself. Now if not the time for anyone to tell you something like look on the bright side, etc. because as humans it just does not work that way. We all have to grieve and adjust to loss before we can accept it and move on.

So, I will end with the old cliche: It will get better with time. You have given Finchel the best gift he earned - acknowledgment of him and how he lived! We will all miss him and now know him. You are such a great human for being his friend and pal.
