Leonard was the first cat I ever had, and my husband's second. Unlike later cats, which we adopted after Leonard passed away at the age of 16, Leonard was adopted from a small pet store, in Ottawa, Ontario.
He was a tiny striped kitten, in a window, the only one awake of about 5 kitties, and he was busily bopping the rest of them all on their noses and noggins to wake them up!
He was a barrel of mischief.
We'd talked about adopting a cat, and that day, we just couldn't walk past. It was take the cat with me, or leave the husband behind in the mall.
