Hyperimmune Egg Technology
Hyperimmune egg products, and hyperimmune technology in general, have been around for quite some time. Now, it's available as a dietary supplement for humans, cats, and dogs.
This concept is not new. Using a reaction created by one animal to benefit another is very common. The hyperimmune egg (or simply, immune egg) is just an extension of that idea.Take, for example, the situation in India with snake bites. Deadly bites from cobras and other poisonous snakes is a serious problem in India. The current method of antidote production is to immunize horses. The antibodies that are produced in the horse are then used as the antidote for snake bite in humans. A less expensive and perhaps more efficient method has been found, using, you guessed it, chicken eggs. In this scenario, they immunize hens at a young age. As the hens mature and lay eggs, they pass on the antivenin that they developed in their bodies to their eggs. The antidote is then extracted from the eggs, and used in humans. Immune egg products are based on a very similar concept. In fact, for almost 50 years, immunology researchers have worked with various hyperimmunity concepts. Many tests, experiments, and trials have been done using both cow milk and chicken eggs. The idea has been to create positive health benefits to humans by repeated immunization of laying hens or lactating cows against human pathogens. As a reaction to this immunization, the hyperimmunized hen or cow produces specific antibodies, as well as cofactors that support and enhance immune response. Researchers say that the egg is the more efficient method here. Why? Because the hen has only one chance to pass on immunity to its offspring, and it must concentrate all of its immune factors into the egg. The hen concentrates the antibodies and immune cofactors into the egg yolk, thereby immunizing the developing chick. And thus, the hyperimmune egg is born! Through an extraction process, this "packaged immunity" can be made available to humans and other animals, such as your pet cat. In clinical studies, this technology has been found to have other benefits to humans as well.
