Has anyone used the Emery Cat board?

Has anyone used the Emery Cat board scratcher? There are many complaints posted online about the Emery Cat scratcher, so I thought I'd throw this question out there. If you've used the product, I'd like to hear your reviews.

There's a petition online to boycott the product due to a safety issue. It claims that the product is made from a foul smelling glue and glass particles, which cats might ingest.

At least one post in an online forum has said that a vet claimed that the product can damage a cat's claws.

The complaints about the product being cheaply made, deceptive online ordering practices, and many cats simply not showing interest in the product has also got my curiosity. Some have said that their cats do use it, but that it doesn't really trim their claws.

So, I thought I'd get some feedback. If you've bought this product and had a good or bad experience, let us know. Please let us know if you've used this product and give us a quick review or opinion on how your cat likes it (or does not).

Please have your say in the comments. Thanks!

emery cat board

I have four cats. One of them destroyed the toy after five minutes. None of the cats would have anything to do with the emery cat board. No interest at all. I guess it was a waste of money.

Thanks Pat, your comment underscores the sentiment expressed in the postings around the Web that many cats show little interest in the scratching board itself (but some do like the mounted toy).

Emery cat

Saw this advertised on TV and thought it would be the greatest thing for my cat Felix. And thought maybe it would save me a lot of money and the hassle of taking him to the groomer to have his mails clipped. I was able to get it at CVS. My cat won't go near it. I tried everything. He likes the regular scratcher with the vertical post in the center.

4 claws down

My 2 Persian/Siamese kittens (8 mos old) didn't want anything to do with it though they did like the toy but shied away from the scratcher part. I think it might rip up their paw pads as well as their nails and cats being so smart know this without even trying. They love to scratch sisal, carpet, and cardboard scratchers so I think that's the reason. It felt extremely abrasive on the whole scratch part. If it were only abrasive where the nail goes(inside) it may have worked.
